The story and tradition of CSI Christ Church, Anbinnagaram.
Our Parish
A house of prayer in Anbinnagaram
CSI Christ Church, Anbinnagaram stands as a parish within the Church of South India — a united Protestant church born in 1947 at St. George's Cathedral, Chennai, bringing together Anglican, Congregational, Presbyterian and Methodist congregations under one communion. The parish belongs to the Thoothukudi-Nazareth Diocese, which was formed in 2003 when it was separated from the larger Tirunelveli Diocese for ease of administration, and it is in that tradition that this parish continues its daily witness in Thoothukudi district.
“Loved across generations of the congregation — a church that has quietly blessed this village for years.”
— in the spirit of our members' own words
Every day begins here before sunrise and closes here after dark — morning and evening prayer, a Sunday service that gathers the whole parish, and a monthly rhythm of fasting and night prayer that has shaped generations of this congregation. Visitors, families passing through, and anyone seeking a quiet place to pray are welcome at any service.
